I still can’t believe I’m back in London and not still in sunny Lanzarote. Although – London is rather sunny at the moment as well so I can’t complain much (maybe just the fact that school starts again tomorrow and that means having to think about homework, schedules, sports kit and clubs again, AND pack the kids lunches every night instead of just plonking down to do nothing once the work day is over).
Oh well, such is life. All my various sports hobbies keep me relatively sane in the midst of all this parenting madness.
While on holiday it was great to rest from the Crossfit Open but this week I’ve hit the ground running again with great sessions and at one time 60 kipping pull ups during a work out! (one or two at a time) My hands were absolutely ripped afterwards but my mind is totally blown that I CAN actually do pull ups. The 25 that I did during an Open workout were mind-blowing enough but last week’s 60 – I’m just feeling like the biggest and baddest badass right now.
In Lanzarote we didn’t do much exercise, just lots of walking, a couple of short runs for me and some daily double-under practice. A jump rope is easy to pack and I usually just did 10 x 20 every evening. It’s not ‘exercise’ as such, I’m not counting calories or anything else, it’s just a bit of fun and a skill that needs to be worked on because it’s such a mental thing for me that if I don’t use it, I’ll lose it.
MrB was practicing as well and we had a few jump-offs. Lots of fun. MrB didn’t mind losing :)
Tomorrow is a heavy deadlift day at Crossfit so there won’t be any double-unders for me in the next couple of days – I suspect my legs will be a bit sore since I haven’t done any properly heavy lifting for what seems like a couple of months. Bring it on though. Deadlifts are another kind of mental but still totally my kind.
