MyProtein – Now there are even MORE eggs in my life!

I don’t chug back protein shakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner but I do like to add some protein powder to my post-Crossfit recovery shakes. The vegan recovery powder that I use (carbs + protein) is way too sweet for me so some plain protein powder added to the mix makes it perfect for me. I usually use some type of vegan powder – pea, hemp, brown rice or a combination of any of these.

A couple of weeks ago MyProtein sent me some egg white protein powder to try out (and a ginormous tub of peanut butter! :) .

Peanut butter is always a winner in my household and MyProtein’s peanut butter just has one ingredient – peanuts. Just like I like it. And it comes in a giant tub,what’s not to like?

The egg white protein powder is something I haven’t tried before so I had no idea what to expect.  It’s 100% egg whites and in powder form looks like corn starch.

It is totally tasteless and that was a very pleasant surprise – when it comes to protein powders, tasteless means good!  In fact for me it’s a MUST that my protein powder is tasteless because I always mix it with something else that is sweet and since I stay away from sugar most of the time, my palate cannot handle super sweet things anymore.

The other positive surprises about this powder: it’s not floury like the plant based powders that I use and when you shake it up it has a nice fluffy consistency of beaten eggs.

Most people use whey protein powder but I don’t in general do whey. I’m just not keen on the idea of too much dairy in my diet, it’s probably a hang-up from the days I had issues with my skin. Those issues turned out to be not so directly dairy related, but I think I’m sticking with this egg white powder as it’s pretty perfect for me. (and I do consume a little bit of whey these days already as I’m totally addicted to Quest Cookies & Cream protein bars)

The collagen hydrolysate has the benefits of collagen in addition to the protein content so I won’t stop buying that although it’s pricey as heck. The SunWarrior vegan powder I’m giving a miss in the future – it’s too floury and way more expensive than the egg powder.

And as a bit of a side note, MyProtein has a great range of other products available as well and all their prices look pretty good.

    I’m with you on protein powders. I’m just not a huge fan. And they taste disgusting – whatever flavour! But tasteless would work for me as, like you, I’d add it to something rather than just drink it.
