There will be a lot of CrossFit in my life this week. I usually go just twice a week but because I’m going to be away for a month, I’m going 4 times this week. So.Exciting.
I’ve already done two days in a row and I cannot wait for tomorrow’s session. Even though the box is hot already at 7am and I start to drip before the warm-up, I just cannot express how much fun CrossFit is. It’s something that makes me feel like a total badass every single time. It makes me forget that I’m a 37-year old mother of two who has way too many wrinkles to her liking. CrossFit makes me feel like 25 and for that feeling I keep going back for more and more and more :D
I’m recording my sessions in Dailymile now, so here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
I don’t often come across a session where dumbells are used but they are quite good for snatches or shoulder to overhead presses – I have used kettlebells for those before and ended up with bruised wrists :|
The WOD was totally doable. I like those WODs where you get to rest a few seconds every minute. And I think it was my first time using a 16kg kettlebell and definitely my first time jumping on the 24″ box.
This day I didn’t actually experience and true CrossFit joy. Mainly because my upper body is still weak like overcooked spaghetti and just doing pull ups and push ups for 8 minutes was a bit frustrating. Pull ups are something that if I can’t do any more, I can’t do anymore. Anything else I can always crank out more even if my brain says I’m done but with pull ups I really am done when I’m done. Hence me chickening out and switching to a stronger band for support.
Strict shoulder press is hard so I didn’t up the weight too much, I didn’t want to start arching my back and risk pulling something. 32.5kg was challenging enough.
WOD was great. I love anything to do with box jumps :) I was the only girl who used the 24″ box.
Zecher squats were something new to me – you basically have the barbell resting in your elbows while you squat. I kept the weight at 50kg cause it was a new thing to me and I like to just work on my form when I do something for the first time.
WOD was one of those WODs where I think in the beginning that I’m not going to make it. But then somehow I got half way through and I kept taking a few seconds to breathe deeply after every set of burpees and somehow I got to the end. I don’t do wall balls often so they scare me a bit but my legs are strong from running so at least half of the workout is not hard – it’s my upper body that lets me down and throwing that darn ball up a 100 times was HARD.
Afterwards I felt nauseous like I do after a fast 10k race :P
Of course I’m excited though to see what tomorrow will bring.
